A tragic unfolding in southwest Miami-Dade ended in three dead in what police are calling an apparent murder-suicide. Miami-Dade Police responded to reports of gunfire at a condo near Bird Road and Southwest 70th Court late Saturday, where they discovered a gravely wounded woman just outside the building.
Officers, attending to the victim outside, were jolted by another gunshot from within the residence. The Special Response Team was summoned, clearing the building before discovering two more bodies inside. According to WSVN, the dead include Luis Napoles, 40, Meghan Moore, 25, and Sidney Capolino, 23.
Investigators have pieced together a chilling sequence of events, identifying Napoles as the gunman who first shot Moore, his girlfriend, outside their apartment, before entering the building and killing Capolino, Moore's roommate. The horrific tableau concluded with Napoles turning the gun on himself. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors were left stunned by the night's violent events. One resident, Dennis Pivniak, recounted to NBC Miami, “After the first gunshot I heard a female scream and then maybe three or four more gunshots at which point I called the police." Police have not released an motive for the shooting, which remains under active investigation.
