Three teenagers were arrested yesterday afternoon in Dorchester on charges related to armed robbery and gun possession. A brief pursuit by police officers led to the apprehension of the suspects aged between 14 and 16, according to a Boston Police Department report.
Boston officers rushed to 157 Washington Street following a call about an armed robbery. On arrival, they quickly located the suspects based on descriptions provided. The three juveniles were found on the building's fourth floor but attempted to avoid detention, running away and leading officers on a foot chase. Two of the suspects were caught leaving from the back of the building, while a third was stopped not far off. Officers managed to swiftly recover a firearm along the suspects' escape route, a SCCY CPx2 — loaded with one round in the chamber and nine in the magazine.
All three were arrested and slapped with several charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and armed robbery. The suspects are now facing arraignment at Dorchester District Court.
In the aftermath of the incident, local authorities are emphasizing the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities. The quick response to the robbery report and the eventual arrests underscore a successful collaboration between law enforcement and the Dorchester community. The recovered firearm adds to a growing number of illegal weapons taken off the streets by Boston Police, reflecting ongoing efforts to directly tackle gun-related crime in the city.
