A tragic car accident in Monroe County resulted in the death of a Toledo woman and left four others injured, authorities reported. The incident, which occurred on Saturday evening, involved a 53-year-old female driver who lost control of her Toyota Camry and veered into oncoming traffic on Telegraph Road, fatally colliding with a Chevy Silverado.
According to WWJ, the woman was driving south near Indian Trail Road in Ash Township around 7 p.m. when the incident happened. The 26-year-old Monroe County man operating the Silverado, and the three passengers from the Camry, were transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, "While the crash remains under investigation, MSP officials say speed appears to be a factor in the crash."
A report by ClickOnDetroit highlighted that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and reinforced the detail that speed is believed to have played a role in the accident. The woman’s identity has not been released to the public, and authorities continue to piece together the circumstances of this fatal mishap.
