The city of Troy, Michigan, is skating into spring with the development of a new community epicenter – an ice skating rink and pavilion situated within the Jeanne M. Stine Community Park. The city's public works director, Kurt Bovensiep, articulated the city's intent for this $10 million endeavor, explaining that "Troy doesn't have a traditional downtown, so we wanted to create a space that kind of had the same feel: a gathering space for the public," in a statement obtained by The Detroit News.

The forthcoming 8,500-square-foot rink and pavilion is financially bolstered by a diverse assembly of funds, including a $1.5 million community project grant, a $4 million injection from the American Rescue Plan Act, and contributions from the city's capital fund.
