Delray Beach just got a major fitness boost with TRX, the renowned fitness brand known for its innovative strap-based training systems, opening its new headquarters this past weekend. After a challenging period that lead to filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2022, the company has left its California roots behind and is hoping for a fresh start on the East Coast. The new space at 1110 S. Federal Highway in Delray Beach now serves as a hub for TRX's world operations, including their state-of-the-art workout facilities.
Housing 12,000 square feet of office and gym space, as well as a film studio for live and on-demand classes, TRX's relocation coincides with Florida's surge in popularity. Pulled up from California last year, the company settled into Delray Beach, becoming a part of the local landscape which has seen an influx of new residents seeking sunnier skies and a lack of state income tax. The Palm Beach Post reported TRX's remark on the move, highlighting Florida's "quality of life" and "focus on health, wellness, and happiness," as key factors driving their decision.
TRX's origin story traces back to 2004 when Randy Hetrick, a retired Navy SEAL, created the company as a solution to maintaining fitness in the absence of traditional gym equipment. Despite selling his controlling interest in 2019, Hetrick, alongside JFXD Capital and one-time Wall Street executive Jack Daly, rescued the company from bankruptcy, purchasing it for $8.4 million, as reported by The Palm Beach Post. Daly is stepping in as the CEO to steer the company towards its "dramatic revitalization".
To herald its new beginning, TRX hosted a grand opening event on March 23, starting the day at 8 a.m. with tours offered to locals eager to see the facilities firsthand – including the workout areas and the filming studio. Known for their yellow and black straps, TRX also provides a range of fitness equipment like kettlebells and weighted vests. According to a post by the Palm Beach Post on X, their range has expanded to offer more comprehensive solutions for home gyms, alongside subscriptions for their video training programs.
