
A Sunday evening in a Chandler neighborhood erupted in violence, resulting in a double shooting that left two people hospitalized, the Chandler Police Department confirmed. The incident occurred on March 3, near McClintock Drive and Chandler Boulevard, details were sparse as police provided limited information to the public. According to the FOX10 Phoenix, initial confrontations between two males, one of whom was armed, escalated quickly leading to a police-involved shooting.
The armed individual said to be in his 50s, reportedly ignored police orders to surrender and instead opened fire on the other male."The subject who was armed was given commands to surrender. He did not comply. Instead, he open fired and shot the second male," Chandler Police explained in statements mentioned by FOX10 Phoenix. Officers on the scene responded with gunfire, wounding the suspect. Both the armed suspect and the victim were subsequently taken to a local hospital for treatment, their conditions and relationship with one another remain undisclosed.
No Chandler Police officers were injured during the altercation, and as per FOX10 Phoenix reports, the authorities stated that there is no current threat to the community. Three officers have since been placed on administrative leave following standard protocol.
The shootings shattered the tranquility of what neighbors described as a quiet and safe area. Police have not released additional information regarding the incident as the investigation continues.
A woman on her way to visit friends unwittingly walked into the chaos, recounting to FOX10 Phoenix "They hid in the laundry room, in the laundry room closet, her and her children, not knowing what was going on. I just heard her husband was shot. I don’t know his condition. He’s at the hospital now."
