
Two teenage boys have been nabbed by the fuzz following a botched daylight mugging in Northwest D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department. In a dramatic turn of events, the young suspects, both just 15, are accused of trying to shake down a pedestrian for cash before sunrise last Saturday.
The thwarted robbery unfolded in the 600 block of P Street, when the victim, whose identity hasn't been disclosed, was accosted by a trio of would-be thieves demanding money. Upon the victim's refusal, one of the suspects allegedly turned violent. The victim managed to escape their clutches and seek refuge with a patrolling officer nearby, the MPD detailed in an official statement.
Swift police work led to the capture of two out of the three suspects. They apprehended a 15-year-old from Southeast and another teen from Northwest. The police charge the pair with Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery. The identity of the suspects is withheld due to their juvenile status. The search for the third suspect is ongoing.
