A routine check in Garcia Park turned into a jackpot for law enforcement as they cracked down on a narcotics operation last Thursday. In what police described as a carefully coordinated sting, undercover deputies at 1200 N. Frio busted Ervin McFerrin during a drug deal from his perch on a public bench.
The bust didn't end with McFerrin. Roslyn MacGregor, another cog in this criminal wheel, was nabbed on two active felony warrants for drug possession, as reported by Fox San Antonio. Dewey Taylor, implicated in one of the transactions with McFerrin, led deputies on a brief foot chase before he was caught and cuffed.
Investigators scouring McFerrin's vehicle, parked nearby in an apartment complex, hit the mother lode. They seized 9.5 grams of methamphetamine and 85 grams of marijuana, along with a stolen handgun tucked away in his car. McFerrin himself owned up to stashing more drugs in the vehicle.
Now McFerrin is staring down the barrel of serious time for possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and the stolen firearm. His alleged role in narcotics trafficking has also been highlighted, adding to an already hefty rap sheet. This significant bust underscores the persistent battle law enforcement wages against drug crimes in our communities.
