Villa Rica High School Counselor Charged With Multiple Counts Over Alleged Inappropriate Relations With StudentsSource: Google Street View

A Villa Rica High School counselor has been slapped with multiple charges after being accused of having inappropriate relationships with students. Alonzo Wyatt, 30, landed in hot water when the Carroll County School District tipped off the Villa Rica Police Department about the alleged misconduct on Feb 16, according to WSBTV.

Wyatt was supposed to safely assist and counsel students at the high school, but instead, he began to allegedly engage in a sexual relationship with one student and acted improperly towards two others. The probe started to only deepen when more evidence surfaced, revealing more alleged victims. WSBTV reported that Wyatt "made inappropriate comments, solicited them for sex, and groped them." during counseling sessions.

It didn't take long for authorities to charge Wyatt with six counts of improper sexual contact by a school employee and one count of criminal attempt. "This investigation revealed a pattern of predatory behavior by Mr. Wyatt. He was in a position of trust at the school and students depended on him for assistance, advice, and safety. Mr. Wyatt clearly and continuously broke that trust and preyed on the students that he was in charge of supervising and assisting," a Villa Rica Police Department spokesperson said, as obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta.

In a statement to Channel 2 Action News, the Carroll County School District recognized the severity of the allegations and expressed their gratitude for the cooperation of local law enforcement, "The district was informed of allegations made against a Villa Rica High School employee. The matter was turned over to the Villa Rica Police Department, and they have notified us of the completion of their investigation. We are thankful for the strong relationship we have to maintain with our local law enforcement to ensure that the safety of our students remains our top priority." The current status of Wyatt's employment with the school district has not been clarified following the arrest.

As the community reels from the allegations, the case stands as a stark reminder of the duty of care teachers and counselors owe to their students. The investigation, which has been a meticulous effort to unravel digital evidence and compile testimonies from multiple victims and witnesses, continues to shed light on the serious breaches of trust that occurred within the walls of Villa Rica High School. Inquiries to the Carroll County jail for Wyatt's booking photo were made by Channel 2 Action News, but no statement or photo has been released as of yet.
