An Illinois man finds himself behind bars facing a barrage of felony charges after a spate of violent incidents last year left several victims traumatized. Antoine Perteet, 33, of the 1000 block of W. Porter St., Waukegan, has been charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, kidnapping, and aggravated vehicular hijacking, according to Chicago Police.
The detainee, nabbed by the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force on March 26, found himself at the wrong end of justice, arrested in the 3000 block of S. Sacramento, Chicago. In a series of events that unfolded in the 10th District last year, Perteet was identified as the man who allegedly terrorized victims, holding them at gunpoint and forcibly commandeering their vehicles.
Perteet's alleged crime spree includes a June 21 incident on the 1600 block of S. Springfield, where a 33-year-old male was not only robbed but also suffered the loss of his vehicle in an armed hijacking. Just three days later, a 51-year-old male was victimized in the 2100 block of S. Millard. The string of felonious acts extended into July when on the 13th, another robbery took place involving a 30-year-old male victim on the 1800 block of S. Springfield.
Now, Perteet is facing three felony counts each for robbery with a firearm and kidnapping with a firearm, alongside one count of aggravated vehicular hijacking involving a firearm. Held for these serious offenses, the offender saw a detention hearing at 2600 S. California on March 27, as reported by Chicago Police. With the charges piled against him, the suspect's future hangs in the balance, awaiting the scales of justice to tip.
Currently, no further details regarding Perteet's arrest or the victims' conditions have been released. Chicago authorities are keeping additional information close to the vest as the case progresses. As the legal proceedings continue to unfold, the community looks on, eager for resolution and justice for the victims involved.
