A Wayne County man is experiencing a serious case of déjà vu after scoring his second lottery jackpot, racking up another $110,000 from the Fantasy 5 Double Play, according to ClickOnDetroit. The 59-year-old man, who opted to stay under the radar with no name to share, secured his latest windfall with a ticket from the same BP gas station in Southfield, where his previous win took place.
The lucky numbers that changed his life for a second time in less than a year were 02-06-11-20-23, which he matched in the Feb. 11 drawing. "The first time I won I was able to pay off all my debt," the winner said, in a statement obtained by Mid-Michigan NOW. “Now I get to have some fun. I don’t have any special plans for the money yet. I plan to sit back and just look at it in my bank account for awhile” he shared.
The fortuitous man had previously snagged the same amount of dough in August 2023, and after that victory, he decided to switch up his game strategy. "After winning $110,000 back in August, I switched up my Fantasy 5 numbers," he told ClickOnDetroit. A simple act of changing numbers led to an enviable repeat win, reinforcing his belief that winning, is indeed, a tremendous blessing.
Much to his surprise, when he checked his ticket at the same BP gas station, the clerk handed it back, saying, “I think you won big!” “I thought, ‘There is no way, I can’t be that lucky.’ I looked up the winning numbers, and sure enough, I had won again! I couldn’t believe it,” he recounted in a news release cited by Kansas City. While he has no immediate designs for his newfound wealth, the back-to-back lottery winner's comfort lies in the numbers that now grace his bank account, offering him some sort of ineffable joy as he mulls over their significance and his stroke of good fortune.
