Wayne State University's police force in Detroit is searching for a student who disappeared last week. Andrew Watkins, a 26-year-old Wayne State student, hasn't been seen since the evening of February 26 on campus. The worrying disappearance has triggered an extensive search operation.
With Watkins having been missing for several days, the university's police department has reached out to the public for assistance. Watkins is described as a white male, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing about 200 pounds, according to FOX 2 Detroit. He was reportedly last seen wearing a blue sweater, black pants, and white shoes, and he lives in the Anthony Wayne Drive Apartments on campus. The university and police began the search after being alerted by his family on February 29.
Wayne State University has since implemented its missing student protocol in response to Watkins' case, issuing an alert across its communication channels. "We have still been looking, exhausting all leads and going through our missing student protocol and at this point we decided to ask for the general community's help in metro Detroit," WSUPD Chief Anthony Holt said in a statement obtained by Detroit Free Press. The university community and Watkins' family remain hopeful for his safe return with contacts being maintained through the police department.
