West Palm Beach drivers faced a watery roadblock yesterday night as four vehicles became casualties of a flooded intersection following a full day of relentless rain. The West Palm Beach Police Department urged the public to practice extreme caution after heavy flooding on Southern Boulevard at the Washington Road intersection left cars stranded and inoperative, as per a report from CBS12.
The scene near the Southern Boulevard Bridge, a gateway to Palm Beach, turned into an unexpected trap for motorists. It quickly became apparent that to try and traverse the inundated streets was to invite misfortune. The police warned, "Do not attempt to drive through flooded streets. It is impossible to judge the depth of the water, especially at night." Floodwaters, they added, can be deceptively deep and may hide various hazards or cause vehicles to stall—an advisory echoed by an X alert from the West Palm Beach Police Department.

As the night progressed, the Palm Beach Police Department also reported closures, notably on S. Ocean Boulevard between Southern Boulevard and Sloan's Curve, citing flooding as the culprit. Law enforcement was promptly on the scene to assist stranded drivers, though no injuries have been reported at the time of these advisories.
While the West Palm Beach Police Department has underscored the risks, they continue to actively monitor and respond to the flooding situation. A Twitter statement urged residents and visitors alike to "turn around" if they encounter street flooding. Weather advisories remained in effect throughout Palm Beach County as the area braced for more potential downpours and the ongoing challenges such deluges bring.
