Williamson County Celebrates Completion of Key Road Developments Near Georgetown and Sun CitySource: Williamson County, Texas

Residents and officials in Williamson County gathered Monday to herald the opening of two major road developments aiming to enhance traffic flow and safety. A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the complete overhaul of County Road 245, a project found crucial for easing the commute between Georgetown and Sun City, as reported by KXAN. The enhanced thoroughfare now boasts an interim third lane, with additional features such as a center turn lane and designated right turn lanes to cater to the growing traffic demands.

The upgraded County Road 245 not only facilitates present-day traffic but also lays the groundwork for what will eventually expand into a six-lane highway. This roadway is part of a broader, 2019 road bond project that targets better mobility in the fast-developing regions around Georgetown and Sun City. Within the framework of the same road bond, Williamson County officials also unveiled the improvements made to C. Bud Stockton Loop and CR 307, as WilcoTx.gov detailed. The C. Bud Stockton Loop Extension, stemming close to Jarrell High School, now extends more accessibly and connects various roads, providing alternative routes to the interstate while mitigating FM 487's congestion.

The C. Bud Stockton Loop Extension in particular not only improves northbound connectivity but also alleviates traffic stress near Jarrell ISD campuses. The CR 307 project, on the other hand, has seen a rebuild from its previous state with new grading, drainage improvements, driveways, and signs from CR 305 to just north of Double Creek Elementary School.

Pct. 4 Commissioner Russ Boles expressed enthusiasm for the projects' potential effect on area residents. "This project will mitigate congestion and provide better mobility for the Jarrell community," Boles said. "We are excited to see how transportation projects in Williamson County are bringing our residents a better quality of life," according to a statement obtained by WilcoTx.gov. The design engineers for these undertakings were K.C. Engineering, and Pape-Dawson Engineers, while construction responsibilities were managed by Cash Construction and Joe Bland Construction. Funded by the voter-approved 2019 Road Bond, the two projects carried a combined price tag of $8.7 million, underlining the county's investment in its infrastructure to address current and future transportation demands.
