Early Wednesday morning, San Antonio firefighters were called to a blaze at a boarded-up home on the city's west side, only to find a woman inside who ran away before receiving medical treatment for smoke inhalation. The fire erupted around 4:20 am in the 700 block of North Colorado Street, close to Perez Street, according to a KSAT report.
The rescued woman, found in the back of what looked to be a vacant house, fled the scene before the emergency medical services had the chance to evaluate her for potential injuries. "She ran off before being evaluated and crews were not able to give her any medical attention for any possible injuries," KENS 5 noted. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under active investigation by fire officials. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found flames inside the single-story structure and quickly extinguished the fire without further incident. Units from the San Antonio Fire Department, the San Antonio Police Department, and EMS all responded to the emergency call.
As of now, officials have not provided an estimate of the damages to the property. The fire investigation team will continue to work to pinpoint the exact cause of the fire. Details will likely emerge as the investigation develops.
