Worcester's streets witnessed a chase scene straight out of a crime drama when local Gang Unit officers tracked down 20-year-old Devonta Berry after a foot pursuit. The incident unfolded last night, according to an official Worcester Police Department release. Berry, who was wanted on multiple warrants, was spotted by the officers around 7:50 PM getting into a sedan on Whipple St.

Launching their pursuit, the cops tailed the sedan to Ekman St where, making a sudden stop, Berry bolted from the vehicle. Describing the chase, the Worcester PD detailed how with one arm swinging and the other seemingly clutching something in his sweatshirt pocket, Berry sprinted toward an Ekman St residence. It was here that officers later apprehended him inside, discovering not only Berry himself but also a handgun.

Berry, it turned out, wasn't licensed to tote such firepower. The charges against him stacked up: unauthorized carrying of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a large capacity weapon, and ammunition possession without an FID card – all this on top of his existing warrants. The Worcester Police Department confirmed these additional charges in their release.
