An arrest has been made in the case of a 15-year-old boy and his mother, who were shot while driving into a west side apartment complex in February.
Zakar Polk was arrested by police two hours after an arrest warrant was issued on Friday. The shooting took place at the Haven at Westover Hills around 10 p.m. on February 22, where the teen was hit in the head by gunfire as they entered the complex's gate. According to KENS5, authorities are still searching for at least five individuals they believe were involved in the shooting. The mother was not injured.
The 15-year-old remains in critical condition following the incident, which occurred when a man outside the front office of the apartment complex opened fire on the vehicle. The teenager's mother managed to drive away after her son was struck.
SAPD has indicated that they think there are two suspects who discharged weapons but have only apprehended Polk so far. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 23. The police are urging anyone with information to contact their homicide unit at (210) 207-7635.
