A 5-year-old boy suffered a tragic fate after being hit by a car at a DeKalb County apartment complex, succumbing to severe head injuries, as confirmed by the police. The devastating incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, unfolded at around 8:37 p.m. at the Highlands at East Atlanta, situated on Flat Shoals Road, where the young child was found gravely injured, according to WSBTV.

Immediately after the incident, emergency teams responded, and the boy named Kaden Jackson was swiftly transported to a local hospital. However, despite medical intervention, his life could not be saved, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. Residents of the apartment complex and the family are still reeling from the sudden loss. His cousin, Angelica Longino, heartrendingly recalled the moment she perceived the chaos from within her apartment: "I'm laying in bed when I heard screaming, and all I hear is kids at the door like ‘He got hit. He got hit,’" she told FOX 5 Atlanta.

In the aftermath of the catastrophe, the driver involved in the accident has actively cooperated with the law enforcement officers present at the scene. The DeKalb County Police Department has not filed any charges so far; however, the Traffic Specialist Unit has taken up the investigation into this heartbreaking event to understand the cause and sequence of actions that resulted in the young boy’s passing.

The family, in the throes of grief, is seeking justice through legal recourse, making public their desire for accountability. "This family needs justice. We do," Longino expressed to FOX 5 Atlanta; they have also organized a balloon release the following Wednesday at 8 p.m. to commemorate and honor the short yet cherished life of the 5-year-old Kaden Jackson.
