A tragic turn of events hit the heart of South Boston when Fernando R. Pizarro, a 57-year-old formerly homeless man, was killed in a horrific accident involving a cement truck at the congested crossing of Traveler Street and Frontage Road as reported by the Massachusetts State Police.
Mr. Pizarro, who had been navigating the busy streets in his wheelchair, was struck by a 2020 Mack Granite truck belonging to Boston Sand and Gravel as the traffic started to move, with the police saying Mr. Pizarro was in the track's path, causing motorists and bystanders to witness the fatal incident and the morning commute descended into chaos as traffic backed up, and emergency vehicles swarmed the site.
