
In a tragic turn of events, a young boy was injured after an accidental shooting in Atlanta. According to the Atlanta Police Department, a 9-year-old boy was shot in the hand after he found a gun inside his home and it discharged.
The incident occurred on April 13 and police were called to the scene at 659 Hutchens Rd SE around 7:10pm. Upon their arrival, officers found the child alert and conscious. He was quickly transported to an area hospital for treatment. Initial reports from the Atlanta Police suggest the child stumbled upon the firearm in one of the drawers while the child's grandmother, who was not charged, was preparing dinner.
Miuana Fair, who is related to the family but is not the boy's grandmother, was arrested after the shooting. Fair now faces charges for Reckless Conduct, according to authorities. Fair was taken to the Fulton County Jail without any reported incidents.
During a consented search of the home, Atlanta police officers found another unsecured firearm. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, with the officers looking into how a firearm became a child's plaything.
