The second annual Architectural & Engineering CAD Career Fair held on April 5 at ACC Highland Campus, swung its doors open to a flow of hopeful students and savvy industry leaders. Organized by the A&E CAD, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Geospatial Engineering (GE) departments, the fair was a bustling marketplace of job opportunities and professional advice.

The career fair drew in a crowd of participants from specializations as diverse as Architecture, BIM, Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, to Mechanical Engineering, GIS, and Electronic Semiconductor Layout, and Design. It acted not only as a networking hotspot, but also as a training ground, with ACC’s Career Services providing a ‘Prepare for the Fair’ session. The session, doled out tips on resume crafting and interview acing, according to the Austin Community College Newsroom. This preparation equipped students and alumni with the job-seeking prowess they require to make a mark.

Feedback from attendees highlighted the fair’s impact. One participant, as per ACC Newsroom, gushed, “The career fair was great. Thank you for providing students such a big opportunity to see all the related companies on campus. Last week, I interviewed with LJA Company and GarzaEMC, and this week, I have an upcoming interview with Dashiell.” Another added, “It was super exciting and is influencing my course work. I’m very excited. Thank you! The experience was incredibly helpful, and I gained much more understanding of the different disciplines. Everyone was so excited about drafting!"

Industry bigwigs like MMR, Pape-Dawson Engineers, KT Civil, Mahoney Engineering, and SAM Companies were among the illustrious sponsors supporting this connective event. The fair not only heralded opportunities but was a testament to the synergy between academic institutions and the private sector working toward common goals of career development and industry innovation.
