In a recent effort to address Arizona's persistent water issues, state officials convened with over 20 Israeli water and agricultural technology companies during a two-day business summit. The event, designed to foster potential partnerships, occurred in Phoenix and Yuma on April 9-10, as reported by ABC15.

Representatives from the Arizona Commerce Authority and the Consulate General of Israel in Los Angeles organized the affair, with the clear intent of showcasing Arizona as a significant candidate for water technology engagement. As a spokesperson for ACA described to ABC15, "The goal of the mission is to highlight Arizona as a place for water technology companies and to connect innovative water technologies with water users in Arizona."

According to a Business Journal report, the connections made at the event spanned a broad spectrum, from water utilities and municipalities to universities and individual farmers. With Israel being a frontrunner in water desalination, the technologies presented are expected to assist Arizona in countering the severe drought and Colorado River water shortages, while aligning with the state's ambition to bolster water conservation and technology sectors.

"Arizona is an attractive option at present because there is awareness among elected officials and the private market about the need to act immediately to address water scarcity issues in the region," Enrique Dreisis, director of economic affairs and innovation for the Consulate General of Israel in Los Angeles, told the Business Journal. Signaling the seriousness of their intentions, some Israeli companies are entertaining the idea of setting Arizona as their expansion base or new headquarters for reasons that include logistical convenience and tax incentives.
