Thieves have hit a southwest Atlanta neighborhood hard, with police now on the hunt for suspects in two separate burglaries. According to Atlanta News First, a woman's house on Sims Street SW became the target when her shed was forcibly entered and items including a bike and a toolbox were stolen. Police have shared surveillance footage showcasing the suspects: one clad in a black jacket, sporting a black hat with a bright yellow Los Angeles Dodgers logo, and the other dressed in a checkered white and black flannel shirt, with blue pants and a black beanie.
Across the neighborhood, on Pomona Circle, another home invasion was caught on camera with the brazen burglar's face clearly visible in the video. The surveillance footage features a man inside the victim’s house, approaching the camera before eventually diverting off frame. The individual is reported to have entered the home via a back door early Thursday morning. WSB-TV did not specify what, if any, items were taken from the home.
Atlanta police are urging anyone with knowledge that could lead to the apprehension of the individuals to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta. Detectives are relying on the public's assistance to recognize the suspects from the footage. Crime Stoppers has announced a reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest in either case.
As the community remains on edge, authorities are tightening their efforts to crack down on this recent wave of crime. Those with any information regarding the burglaries or the suspects are urged to reach out to Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477. The hope is that the released footage will prompt individuals to come forward and assist the police in their investigation, bringing swift justice and a semblance of peace back to the affected homeowners and neighbors.
