
On Saturday, Zilker Park in Austin was a kaleidoscope of color as it hosted the 96th annual ABC Kite Fest, a cherished community event that featured not just kite flying, but shopping, local music, food, and a variety of family-friendly activities. the festival this year partnered with Mini Market, a shopping experience spotlighting women-owned small businesses, which brought together 10 unique local vendors, according to CBS Austin.
While the kite-flying extravaganza drew hundreds of enthusiasts from all walks of life, it was also an arena for the kite professionals from the group "Go Big or Go Home," who captivated the crowds with their massive and intricately designed kites Bobby Jenkins, President of ABC Home & Commercial Services, captured the essence of the event when he said, "What I would say to anyone who's never been to the kite festival is it's the ultimate family-friendly day," adding that "It is an incredible, happy place today," showcasing the event as a symbol of unity in the city, as per CBS Austin.
The festivities also included a plethora of attractions for the entire family, with live music setting the soundtrack for the event, a kid's activity center engaging the young minds, and a pet playground catering to the needs of furry companions. The whole affair embraced the spirit of Austin, with one local attending for the first time describing it to KVUE as "quintessential, Austin," the individual continued to express admiration for the event, stating, "It's amazing, it's magical and it's uh uh I don't know if things like this happen in, uh, in too many other cities, it's, it's perfect, Austin."
