Authorities are on the lookout for a puppy nabbed in a home burglary in Northwest Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department has put out a call for assistance after a furry resident was snatched from its home. According to an official statement, the break-in occurred on Thursday evening, between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., within the confines of the 4800 block of Illinois Avenue, Northwest.

The suspect is said to have forcefully made their way into a residence and to not only have grabbed various items but also a puppy before fleeing the scene. The Fourth District detectives are now piecing together this unpleasant puzzle and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The missing canine has left a family without their beloved pet and sparked a community-wide concern. Often considered part of the family, pets become more than mere animals in the homes and hearts of those they live with. 

Residents are asked to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information that could lead to the recovery of the stolen pup.
