A devastating blaze swept through downtown Snoqualmie early Sunday, demolishing a historic building and the dreams of local women entrepreneurs with it. Eastside Fire & Rescue raced against time, responding to the emergency call at approximately 5:25 a.m. on Railroad Avenue near SE River Street, an area known for its quaint charm and vibrant small businesses. "It was actually an alert Snoqualmie Police officer who smelled the smoke and drove over," recounted Dorie Ross, potentially stopping the disastrous spread, as reported by FOX 13 Seattle.

Despite the efforts, four women-owned businesses, nestled within the now-collapsed walls of the structure, suffered an irrevocable loss. Among the casualties were Littlest Wishes Photography, Snoqualmie Ice Cream, Chickadee Bakeshop, and Snoqualmie Pie Company the latter duo managed by Dorie Ross and Katie Podschwit, as per a Northwest Progressive Institute article. Owner Sandra Collins, speaking with The Seattle Times, suggested the fire's origin was electrical, dispelling arson fears.
The magnitude of destruction rendered the structure a complete loss after hours of firefighting, according to KIRO 7. The aftermath of the incident has left the community reeling, but their rapid display of solidarity hints at a swift road to recovery. Residents and fellow business owners have already begun pledging support, echoing a profound sense of unity in the face of adversity.
