The search for a missing Newberg woman came to a tragic end this Wednesday when her body was discovered in a creek area close to her home. Carolyn Duncan, age 43, had been missing since March 31 and was last seen at her residence by her concerned family and friends, KATU reported.
Following her disappearance, the Newberg-Dundee Police Department, alongside neighbors and authorities, conducted extensive searches which gradually led them to the waters of Chehalem Creek near West 5th Street. Having put all efforts to span across her familiar hiking spots and the surrounding neighborhood, search teams were hopeful in finding Duncan alive, as mentioned in the Newberg Graphic.
The search concluded when deputies from the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team made the grim discover of Duncan's body in the vicinity of her home, ending days of anxious waiting by those who knew her. According to the local authorities, an investigation into the exact circumstances leading to Carolyn Duncan’s death is ongoing, and the cause of death at present is undetermined, as per the broadened search effort involving multiple agencies.
"A lot of asking where she was and if we knew her. I didn't know her personally," Liz, a nearby resident, told KPTV. "I feel really bad for her family. My condolences." The discovery behind the property she lived in only compounds the grief experienced by those who knew Duncan, with neighbors expressing their sadness and extending their sympathies towards her family.
