The Texas Eclipse Festival is creating quite the stir in Burnet as festivalgoers flood the small town to witness the rare celestial event while also indulging in the fanfare that comes with a music festival. However, some attendees are voicing concerns over various logistical issues encountered at the event. Issues such as artists pulling out of the lineup, lack of adequate camping space, and the absence of on-site will call have marred the start of the four-day festival at Reveille Peak Ranch, according to KVUE.
Despite the issues, some festivalgoers remain upbeat about their experience. Nathan, who hailed from Dallas, mentioned that most of his complaints came from the internet rather than his time at the festival. Ashley Moore, traveling in from Missouri, admitted to disorganization and long wait times but found her campsite satisfactory. Festival organizers, in response to the criticism, stated, “Texas Eclipse Festival’s turnout has been remarkable... This is a first-time festival at a 2,000-acre ranch in challenging terrain in a remote area. We are working through the highly complex task of getting tens of thousands of people settled into designated campsites,” in as statement obtained by KVUE.
In contrast to the organizational gripes, the Burnet County Sheriff has pointed out that noise is a major complaint from locals. Sheriff Calvin Boyd acknowledged that bands have been playing all night, a fact that seems to have been overlooked during the permit process. "The main complaints that we’ve gotten so far have been noise complaints,” Boyd said, as per KXAN. The sheriff stated there’s been a discussion with festival organizers to potentially stop music after midnight. Acknowledging the complaints, the festival's organizers have set up a dedicated phone line for neighbors to report concerns.
While the Texas Eclipse Festival has welcomed crowds and artists from around the globe, ensuring a secure environment has been a priority. There have been checkpoints, law enforcement presence, and vehicle searches. As reported by KXAN, the festival has welcomed over 500 artists and tens of thousands of guests, emphasizing that music is integral to the event's experience.
