
A Chicago man has been hit with a felony charge for a vehicular hijacking that occurred last year, authorities said. Darnell Magsby, 19, of the 7600 block of S. Phillips Ave. in Chicago, Illinois, is accused of hijacking a vehicle at gunpoint from a 29-year-old man on June 6, 2023.
The incident took place in the 5800 block of S. Maplewood Ave. in the city's 8th District. Magsby, now charged with one count of aggravated vehicular hijacking – firearm was apprehended by the Vehicular Task Force on April 3, according to a Chicago Police Department release.
Following his arrest, which occurred on the 2600 block of S. California Ave., the offender was identified as the individual responsible for the June confrontation. Magsby is scheduled for a detention hearing in a Chicago courtroom on April 4, officials confirmed.
Details surrounding the arrest and subsequent charges against Magsby remain scarce, however, the Chicago Police Department has not released additional information regarding the case. The investigation into the incident by the Vehicular Task Force culminated in the charges nearly ten months after the vehicular hijacking occurred.
