A road rage feud on a Chicago interstate spiraled into gunfire, a car crash, and an extensive police manhunt that concluded with the arrest of a local man for attempted murder. Lamont Ross, the 31-year-old Chicago resident, was apprehended following the violent altercation that took place on Interstate 290 earlier this week, as reported by FOX 32 Chicago.
After allegedly shooting at another driver's vehicle on the entry ramp from Independence Boulevard, both cars continued onto I-290, where they crashed near Racine Avenue. Ross then, fleeing on foot, fired shots again at the victim before, who was not struck by the gunfire but sustained injuries due to the crash and was later hospitalized.
Ross managed to evade immediate capture as the state troopers gave chase. However, a thorough investigation by the ISP Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 led to his arrest two days later on April 3, which was detailed in a piece from Country Herald. He now faces attempted murder charges in an incident that serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can unpredictably unfold on public roadways.
While Ross awaits his day in court, the authorities remind the public that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
