The Chicago Police Department has issued a missing person alert for a 75-year-old man, James Kirby, who was last seen nearly four days ago. Kirby, who stands at six feet tall and weighs around 190 pounds, has brown eyes and gray hair. According to the police report, the senior citizen disappeared from the 2000 block of W 83rd St. in Chicago.
Kirby is known to frequently use the Red Line train and was reportedly last spotted at the State and Lake Red Line station on April 6, 2024. This area is a bustling hub of the city with considerable foot traffic throughout the day. Officials are asking the public to be on the lookout, as Kirby is also known to regularly visit various Chicago Public Libraries and to wander around the downtown area. Authorities have not yet been able to promptly locate him.
Concerns are particularly high given Kirby's age and the length of time he has been missing. The Chicago Police Department's Area Two Special Victims Unit is leading the search and has urged anyone with information about Kirby's whereabouts to contact them at 312-747-8274. Photos and a description of Kirby have been widely distributed in the hope that members of the public might recognize him and provide leads.
