A stroke of extraordinary luck hit Chicago's Austin neighborhood where a single Illinois Lottery ticket sold at Prestige Liquor for the March 28th drawing turned out to be worth a jaw-dropping $5.45 million. This ticket secured the second-highest jackpot in Illinois for the year, according to ABC7 Chicago.
The lucky winning numbers 6-8-15-26-27-48 were enough to completely alter someone's life who frequents Prestige Liquor, located at 345 N. Central Ave. "This was a great surprise," co-owner Sam Singh ecstatically told ABC7 Chicago in a recent interview. With a one-year window to claim the prize, the winner has plenty of time to step forward.
For their role in the lucky draw, Prestige Liquor is set to receive a bonus of $54,500, which is one percent of the prize amount. FOX 32 Chicago reported Sam Singh and his wife, Gagandeep Kaur, intend to generously share a bit of the windfall with their diligent employees. "We will be sharing some of the bonus with our hardworking employees. They deserve it!" Kaur stated.
Earlier this year, a larger jackpot prize of $10.4 million was won and claimed in Park Ridge in February, but this recent windfall marks a significant win for the neighborhood. Over 55,000 other winning tickets were also sold for the March 28th Lotto draw, as per details from lottery officials obtained by FOX 32 Chicago.
