
A 16-year-old boy has been gravely injured following a shooting in Chicago's North Side late Wednesday night. The teen was walking on the sidewalk along the 5700 block of North California Avenue, when according to ABC7 Chicago, shots rang out around 9:41 p.m., striking him several times.
In serious condition upon arrival, the youngster was taken to Swedish Hospital by a friend after the incident, where he currently remains, as WGN-TV reports. Witnesses nearby said that the gunfire also pierced the windows of some local apartments.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still being pieced together by Area Three detectives as no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
