An 18-year-old has been slapped with serious charges after cops say he hijacked a car at gunpoint in Chicago. Tamar Moses of the 100 block of N. Waller Ave was arrested and is now facing a felony vehicular hijacking charge and an attempted armed robbery count, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The authorities reported that Moses, after joining the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force's arrest roster on April 14, is accused of forcefully taking a vehicle at gunpoint from a 37-year-old male victim. The incident, which went down in the 5300 block of W. Madison St. on April 8 around 11:30 p.m., also involved an attempt to rob another man at gunpoint only 30 minutes earlier. Arrested in the same block of N. Waller Ave, the bewildered victim sought after the suspect's arrest was later identified as the targeted male in the attempted robbery.
Task Force members pieced together the case, ultimately pointing to Moses as the perpetrator in both incidents that rocked the 15th District. The detention hearing for the young man is scheduled at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California on April 15.
The charged individual was taken into custody and hit with the book—a felony for each of his alleged acts of violence. The 30-year-old would-be victim of the attempted armed robbery has yet to have his identity released as this wrenching story continues to develop. Each step taken by Moses that night across Waller Avenue and Madison Street leaves a footprint in a saga of crime that the community struggles against, to disentangle themselves from the narrative woven by violence.
The Chicago Police Department has not furnished any further details at this juncture. The investigation remains ongoing, more information is expected to emerge as law enforcement press forward with the case.
