A young child was struck by a vehicle at 5000 Soledad Road in Pacific Beach, San Diego, in what police are describing as a serious injury accident. The incident, which occurred yesterday afternoon around 4:06 PM, involved a 6-year-old boy who was hit by a car while he attempted to cross the street, the San Diego Police Department reported.
The child, referred to as P1, was with his mother close to their vehicle parked along the west curb when he spotted his father across the street. In a dangerous dash to reach him, the youth darted eastbound across Soledad Road and was struck by a slowly moving vehicle driven by a 75-year-old man, identified as P2. In a statement obtained by the City of San Diego's official website, the police detailed that "the juvenile sustained a fractured pelvis."
Thankfully, authorities have clarified that the injuries are non-life-threatening. The child was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention. In the aftermath, the SDPD Traffic Division officers arrived at the scene to launch an investigation into the collision. They have ruled out alcohol as a contributing factor.
Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident are urged to step forward. The SDPD is actively seeking assistance from the public.
