The National Weather Service in Nashville issued a frost advisory effective early Saturday morning. Tennesseans are advised to brace for frosty conditions as temperatures are expected to drop to a chilly 33 degrees. The advisory affects the entire Middle Tennessee region and is set to be in place from 4 AM to 9 AM CDT Saturday.
Gardeners should take note to protect tender plants as the frost "could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation," with the potential that "sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered," the National Weather Service warns. The frost is expected to clear by 9 am, giving way to a sunny day with highs reaching 63 degrees. A calm northeast wind of around 5 mph is also in the forecast for the day. Residents may want to ready themselves to fully cover their vegetation tonight as the low is expected to hover around 40 degrees.
Looking ahead, the weather in Middle Tennessee will quickly swing from chilly to stormy. Sunday forecasts a beautiful start, sunny with an uptick in temperature to a comfy 75 degrees. However, clouds are set to increase by nightfall with a strong chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm post-8 pm. The National Weather Service anticipates a 70% chance of precipitation when the showers kick in.
Monday and Tuesday's forecasts emphasize unsettled conditions with a persistence of showers and potential thunderstorms; Monday morning will likely see the tail end of Sunday's wet weather, with a 70% chance of showers, mainly before 8 am. Monday night doesn't seem to be much drier, with a predicted 60% chance of rainy weather continuing into showers and thunderstorms after 2 am. The same pattern is expected to continue right through to Wednesday night, with consistently high precipitation probabilities peaking at 80%.
By Thursday, the likelihood of rain eases up slightly but remains a concern with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms forecasted throughout the day. By nightfall, this chance remains steady, predicting a mostly cloudy night with a 60% possibility of continued stormy weather. Concluding the week, Friday shows a break in the storms with a brighter outlook of a 20 percent chance of showers and a high near a mild 70 degrees.
