Community on Edge After Deadly Shootings at Pontiac's North Hill Farms Apartments Prompt Police HuntSource: Google Street View

A string of violence has riled the Pontiac community as two separate shootings rocked North Hill Farms Apartments, leaving one dead and several others wounded. According to FOX 2 Detroit, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating both incidents, which residents claim are part of an ongoing surge in violence at the complex.

The barrage of gunfire began late Sunday when a 20-year-old man was shot in the upper torso after two men fired into an apartment and then fled in a vehicle. A few days later, early Wednesday morning, a party turned deadly. Authorities were called to the scene at approximately 12:26 a.m. where they found one individual slain and two others injured. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is now offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible, determined to find and prosecute the culprits. "We are looking for assistance in locating the individual(s) that committed this cowardly and despicable violent act by shooting into a crowd. The only way we can stop senseless violence is when people speak up. You can be anonymous, and a reward is possible," Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard was quoted as saying in a statement obtained by CBS News Detroit.

The Wednesday shooting claimed the life of 24-year-old Rayjon Tyree Barnes, who was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head. The two other victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Residents like Stacey Gelow expressed their exasperation with the continuous cycle of violence. "This is constant. The good people that are in here are fed up with it," Gelow told FOX 2 Detroit.

Despite the proximity of events, the Oakland County Sheriff’s office has asserted that the shootings are unrelated, with the identity of the suspects in both cases remaining unknown. Anyone with information regarding the shootings can leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAK UP. In the face of tragedy, the community now anxiously awaits justice, hoping to finally rest easier knowing the perpetrators are held to account. Details about the individuals behind the Sunday shooting remain scarce, with authorities urging anyone who might know something to come forward, The Oakland Press reported. The shooters, after firing into the apartment, reportedly escaped by vehicle and have avoided capture as of the latest updates.
