The City of Corinth is hitting a high note after being officially named a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community, Governor Greg Abbott announced. The Texas Music Office (TMO) has given Corinth the nod after the city completed the multi-step certification process. This accolade is part of an initiative launched in 2016 to bolster economic growth and job creation in Texas cities by developing local music industries.

"Congratulations to the City of Corinth on earning the Music Friendly Texas Certified Community designation," said Governor Abbott. "Music is key to Texas brand and is deeply rooted in the cultural traditions of our great state." According to the Office of the Texas Governor, the music industry in Texas was responsible for over 192,000 jobs and generated more than $26 billion in economic activity in 2022.

Rep. Richard Hayes echoed the sentiment, expressing pride in the state's culture and his representation of Corinth. "I am proud to have the honor of representing the City of Corinth and congratulate them on their designation as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community. Corinth is a vibrant example of the music community's best," Rep. Hayes said, in a statement obtained by the Office of the Texas Governor.

Mayor Bill Heidemann highlighted the significance of the designation amidst the city's development, including a new public amphitheater. "Becoming certified as a Music Friendly Texas Community was an important achievement for us," Mayor Heidemann told attendees at the certification ceremony. As he puts it, this marks a commitment to a high quality of life through the arts in Corinth.

A celebratory certification ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 4, at Corinth City Hall, cohosted by TMO, the city, and the Corinth Economic Development Corporation, as per the Office of the Texas Governor. The event, featuring speeches from community leaders, can be attended in person or virtually via a provided link.

With this certification, Corinth joins the ranks as the 59th community in Texas to be recognized by TMO's program, which since 1990, has been dedicated to supporting the state's music business ecosystem, linking the industry with government departments, promoting significant developments, and attracting music business to Texas.
