Corpus Christi Police Department's Officer Kyle Hicks was gunned down in an early morning altercation while responding to a domestic disturbance. Hicks, with two years on the force, is now clinging to life with gunshot wounds described as life-threatening, according to a report by KENS 5.

The incident unfolded at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday at Summer House Apartments, situated on the southside of the city, the fleeing was short-lived the assailant shot Hicks after a brief scuffle, fellow officers retaliated, fatally shooting the 26-year-old gunman whose identity remains undisclosed. The officers involved have been sidelined on standard administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing.

Hicks, a married father of four is currently at the epicenter of an outpouring of local support, as the close-knit community reels from the shock of violence inflicted upon one of their protectors, Officer Hick's plight stands as a stark reminder of the dangers law enforcement officials face daily.
