A Metropolitan Police Department officer is fighting for their life after being struck by a vehicle while on-duty Thursday morning in Southeast Washington, D.C. The collision took place at approximately 7:48 a.m. on the 400 block of M Street, leaving the officer seriously injured, according to FOX 5 DC.

The officer, who was conscious and breathing following the incident, was operating a department-issued motorcycle and was hit by an oncoming car. They were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital. With injuries defined as serious but non-life threatening, reported by the DC Police Union, the community holds its breath as one of their defenders remains hospitalized.
