Get ready to roll up your sleeves, Dallas, as Council District 11 gears up for a major clean-up this Saturday, with a side of community bonding. Councilmember Jaynie Schultz and the Dallas Parks and Recreation are throwing a trash bash - a Community Clean Trash-Off - and everyone's invited to declutter and revitalize their hood.
The cleanup is slated for April 13, at the Fretz Recreation Center, where residents can haul in the old, the rusty, and the hazardous, from the depths of their garages and attic - bulky items, looking at you - for a trash-off that's easier on the wallets, and the planet, according to the City of Dallas.
Schultz is stoked about the event, saying, "This event will offer vast array of services that the community can utilize to live a healthy and productive life," also giving the people what they need with on-site shredding for those documents that have been collecting dust, no questions asked, as per the City of Dallas.
But wait, there's more - once you've dumped your junks, stick around for the Community Resource Fair, happening right on the front lawn of Fretz from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., promising a family-friendly affair with giveaways, fitness demos, and even on-site pet adoptions, because why not go home with a new furry family member, all this backed by Sam's Club and Sunrise Senior Living; and remember, if Mother Nature pulls a fast one with rain, they're moving the whole shebang indoors.
