A Detroit man led police on a dangerous high-speed chase through Oakland County this past weekend, resulting in multiple felony charges. Dazmond Morse, 20, was arraigned in 44th District Court Monday on counts of fourth-degree fleeing and eluding and resisting a police officer, among other charges.

The chase, which authorities say reached speeds of 90 mph, started when Morse drove a white Jeep with stolen plates and refused to pull over for police. Videotaped by dash cameras, the pursuit went eastbound on 12 Mile Road before officers from the Berkley Police Department joined the fray near the intersection of Greenfield Road. The Detroit News reports Morse navigated the Jeep between 12 Mile and 11 Mile Road before his capture.

Attempting to evade the police, Morse tried to take the Jeep onto I-696, leading police to perform a maneuver that forced the car into the curb and to a halt. According to ClickOnDetroit, Morse then fled the vehicle with a Glock 23 holding an extended magazine, only to trip, fall, and surrender his firearm to police.

Officers involved in the chase said, while carrying a loaded weapon with an extended magazine, Morse tripped and fell, sending the gun skidding across the ground. Once apprehended by police, he continued to resist arrest. Authorities claim Morse has a troubled history with weapon violations. Policemen added that a loaded Glock 23 .40 cal with 21 rounds was in his possession, as noted by WWJ Newsradio.

Morse, who faces up to two years in prison for each of the fleeing and resisting charges, plus an additional five years for the weapons charge, is being held on a $50,000 bond. His next appearance before the court is set for April 12, indicating the severity of the incident and the charges hanging over his head.
