PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — The Pflugerville Independent School District's Board of Trustees announced Dr. Quintin Shepherd as the Texas finalist for the district's superintendent position in a meeting held on Thursday night. Shepherd, coming from his leadership tenure in Victoria ISD since 2018, carries a weight of 18 years of experience in superintendent roles across various states including Iowa and Illinois, according to KXAN.
Shepherd is no stranger to educational administration, having also been a high school principal, an elementary principal, and a PreK-12 music teacher. In light of the announcement, a mandatory 21-day waiting period is in effect before Shepherd's formal hiring, as mandated by Texas law, a detail confirmed by Community Impact.
Stepping into the role, Shepherd has proposed a 100-day tour aptly named "Discovering Pflugerville," aiming to meet with students, staff, and community stakeholders to build deeper connections within the PfISD family. "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as Superintendent of Pflugerville ISD and to champion the cause of students, teachers, parents, and community members as we embark on our journey of continuous improvement," Shepherd said, in a statement obtained by KXAN.
During this period of change, Place 7 PfISD board trustee Chevonne Lorigo-Johst expressed excitement for the district's future under Shepherd's guidance. "Pflugerville is at a turning point," Lorigo-Johst stated, "We may have a state Legislature that is working against us, but we are stronger. I’m excited about the innovation that will come with this new superintendent. ... We took [the search] very seriously; this is the most important thing we do as a trustee," as reported by Community Impact.
