A grisly scene unfolded at a senior apartment complex in San Antonio this past Saturday when an elderly man was fatally stabbed. Gary Battles, 76, has been identified as the victim of this violent encounter, according to Fox San Antonio.

Emergency services were alerted to a fight at the complex, located near South Main Avenue and West Johnson Street, that escalated to a stabbing at around 2:10 p.m. Battles was found in an upstairs apartment suffering from a lethal chest wound. A suspect, described as a man in his 30s, was apprehended on the first floor of the building, knife in tow, as reported by News 4 San Antonio.

Authorities took the suspect into custody and he was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained. Details surrounding the motivations for the attack remain unclear, with the investigation being handled by homicide detectives.
