Residents of two apartment complexes in Fair Oaks are reeling after a series of gun-related incidents, culminating in an active shooter situation that forced evacuations. FOX San Antonio reported that at the Hills at Fair Oaks, shots rang out in two separate incidents on a single day. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar confirmed the shootings, which sent two men to the hospital during the second incident. "Early December, January, we had a situation where swat team was out here, surrounded an entire building, and caused major issues, for people trying to get in and out," one resident, who requested anonymity, told FOX San Antonio.

Meanwhile, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department evacuated the nearby Hazel Ranch Apartments late Friday morning due to an ongoing active shooter situation. An armed suspect, after firing at a resident's home, remained holed up in a unit. Folsom Times reported that the standoff began around 10:05 a.m., with several roads barricaded to contain the threat. Sgt. Amar Gandhi of the Sheriff’s Office told Folsom Times the suspect had discharged multiple rounds from their apartment, prompting an exchange of gunfire and the immediate evacuation of residents.

Security concerns have been growing among those living at the Hills at Fair Oaks. One woman expressed her fear, suggesting the necessity for more proactive measures, including a security presence that deters rather than simply responds. "I think they could be patrolling a lot more than they do and not just responding, but you know, making their presence known," she said in a statement obtained by FOX San Antonio. Following the shootings, Sheriff Salazar stated that deputies would increase patrols in the area.

As the situation unfolded at Hazel Ranch Apartments, law enforcement took decisive action to protect residents from potential harm. "I mean the fact that there’s been two shooting incidents, or gun-related incidents in the last week, absolutely this will continue to be on our radar," Sheriff Salazar told FOX San Antonio. Authorities have not released any further details about the suspect's identity or the motives behind the shooting at Hazel Ranch.
