A devastating scene unfolded this morning in a quiet Lowell neighborhood where a man reportedly shot his wife and child before turning the gun on himself. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent Greg Hudon confirmed the grim discovery after a 911 call led authorities to a Warren Street apartment.

The call, made at 6:39 a.m. by a male resident of the apartment, chillingly stated that he had shot his family and was armed. When police arrived, they found two victims, an adult female and a young girl, alongside the male caller, all deceased. A firearm, the dark instrument in this apparent murder-suicide, was also found at the scene, resting out of the reach of the dead hand that once wielded it.

The identities of the victims are currently withheld, as the investigation unfolds, but this tragic event shatters the facade of tranquility often associated with residential life.
