A former teacher at Pinewood Christian Academy, Joshua Garrett Blaxton, has been charged with child sexual exploitation and other offenses, authorities said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested Blaxton, 35, following allegations that he sent explicit text messages to female students at the Belleview, Georgia school, Atlanta News First reported; the charges against him include Sexual Exploitation of Children, Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes, and Improper Sexual Contact by Employee or Agent.

The GBI's investigation found evidence that Blaxton not only sent nude photographs of himself to several high school students but also sought to receive explicit photos and sexual favors from at least one student, as was confirmed by The Georgia Virtue.

Currently incarcerated at Tattnall County Jail, Blaxton stepped down from his roles as teacher and coach during the investigation this case is still active and ongoing, with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
