
A fatal collision on Route 1 in Foxborough has claimed the life of a driver whose vehicle rear-ended a tractor-trailer, Foxborough police Chief Michael Grace confirmed. The crash occurred just before 5:30 p.m. yesterday near the intersection with Lincoln Road, as reported by WCVB. Details provided by the police indicate that the tractor-trailer was stationary, preparing to make a left turn onto Lincoln Road when the passenger vehicle collided with its rear end.
Responding firefighters rendered emergency medical assistance to the male driver, who was the sole occupant of a white SUV involved in the incident. He was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro where he was pronounced dead, a statement obtained by WCVB. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed, as authorities are in the process of notifying kin.
Scene footage from last night showed the grievous scene, with the SUV wedged beneath the back of the tractor-trailer not far from Gillette Stadium, as captured near the Extra Space Storage on 106 Washington St. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not sustain any injuries from the crash, as reported by MassLive.
