Two Georgia men are behind bars following a broad drug bust in the quiet counties of White and Hall, as per the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). Travis Sims of Gainesville and Derrance Damon of Cleveland, the former 49 and the latter 43, are now facing serious charges related to drug trafficking and firearms possession, information released by the GBI announced.
The duo's apprehension stems from an intensive three-month investigation involving numerous law enforcement entities including the DEA Atlanta and the ATF, Sims was taken into custody charged with multiple offenses, including trafficking of fentanyl and cocaine, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm, and Damon was booked with charges inclusive of trafficking fentanyl and possessing crack cocaine with the intent to dole it out on the streets.
GBI operatives, in conjunction with local sheriff’s offices and police departments, pounced on a home and a storage unit hauling in illegal drugs and several firearms during raids conducted on March 28. The narcotics haul seized by authorities encompassed more than half a pound of suspected fentanyl, 110 grams of suspected crack, and some powder cocaine plus a variety of prescription pills – the total stash estimated to have a street value upward of $23,000.
