Chaos erupted in a Woodbury parking lot on Monday night when a fight led to a fatal shooting, claiming the life of 22-year-old Jaylen Jamal McGruder. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has stepped in at the behest of the local police to untangle the events that left McGruder dead.
According to information provided by the GBI, officers responded to the scene behind a liquor store on Highway 85 around 9:40 p.m. to find McGruder with gunshot wounds amidst a large crowd that had gathered. A fight had broken out, and several individuals exchanged gunfire. McGruder, from Pine Mountain, was rushed to a Thomaston hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. No arrests have yet been made in connection to the violence that unfolded.
